Liverpool crush Toulouse 5-1 in Europa League
Reds run riot in France to reach last 16
Liverpool booked their place in the last 16 of the Europa League with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Toulouse on Thursday.
The Reds were in devastating form at the Stadium Municipal de Toulouse, with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge all on target.
Liverpool took the lead in the 17th minute through Firmino, who latched onto a pass from Andy Robertson and finished coolly. The visitors doubled their lead just four minutes later when Mane fired home from inside the area.
Toulouse pulled a goal back in the 38th minute through Max-Alain Gradel, but Liverpool restored their two-goal advantage just before half-time when Origi headed in from a James Milner cross.
The Reds continued to dominate after the break and Shaqiri made it 4-1 in the 63rd minute with a fine solo effort. Sturridge completed the scoring in the 88th minute, tapping in from close range after good work from Salah.
The victory means that Liverpool have now won all four of their Europa League matches this season and they will be confident of going all the way in the competition.
